The Details
Frame:
Early 90's production Eddy Merckx Corsa Lugged Steel Frame Handmade in Belgium from Columbus SL Tubing
130mm rear spacing, Italian Bottom Bracket Threading, 1" Threaded Fork
Two Water Bottle Mounts, Pump Peg, Internal Top Tube Rear Brake Cable Routing
Eddy Merckx Forged Dropouts
27.2mm Seat Tube ID.
This frame was built in the '90's at the Merckx factory in Belgium. This frame was purchased pre-owned, and has no dents, cracks, or other structural problems. It may have been an NOS, un-ridden frame with some storage wear. There are some small paint chips and scratches, but overall the frame is in very good to excellent condition. This is the original factory paint. This frame is meant to be a long distance racing frame. Eddy Merckx designed his production frames for the rough roads of Belgium and Northern France. EM bikes handle uneven surfaces extremely well. The Columbus SL Tubing Corsa with the sloping top tube was a relatively rare model, and in my opinion superior to the later SLX, as that tube-set is a bit heavier and stiffer. For hardcore racers of the era, the stiffer the better. For a bike like this in current day, SL is much better choice. Most EM Corsa models I have seen use the first generation-style fork with the flat fork crown. This one has the more appropriate sloping crown to better match the era of the T-Mobile paint scheme.
This bike has less than 1,000 miles since it was built.
